Sodium Hydroxide NF is white or practically white and comes as fused masses, in small pellets, in flakes, or sticks, and in other forms. It is hard and brittle and shows a crystalline fracture. When exposed to the air, it rapidly absorbs carbon dioxide and moisture. It is a deliquescent.
